Smokers can introduce novice and expert grillmasters alike to a whole new world of cooking that gas bbqs or charcoal barbecues simply can't replicate. Whether you're a BBQ purist or are just dying to get that classic smokey flavour at home - a pellet smoker is the way to go.
Control The Heat - In-Built Thermometer and Vent
The art of slow cooking with smoke requires that you're in complete control of your cooking temperature. That's why BillyOh Smokers come with a built-in thermometer on the hood as well as adjustable air vents to regulate your heat source. Many of our smokers are also weather resistant, which is vital
As cooking methods go, smoking is what we call "low and slow" at a steady temperature. But it often gets pigeonholed as just a method for cooking meat. That's simply not true! A Smoker is not just a meat smoker. They're great at cooking vegetables, fish, and even bread if you're ambitious!
Whilst you can't quite replicate slow-smoking on a charcoal grill, you can pick up a multi-purpose versatile grill from this BillyOh range.
Meat, Fish and Veg
Whether it's cuts of meat, a rack of ribs, salmon and other hardy fish or even vegetables - there's pretty much nothing you can't smoke. Lose yourself in the joy and hobbyism of slow smoking where combinations of flavoured pellets and woods combined with excess food drippings create amazing flavour profiles.
Plus, the steel construction of our smokers features awesome extras like preparation side tables and adjustable cooking grates. This all means that you're set to start out with a piece of kit that's designed to last a long time.
The art of smoking may take a bit of getting used to, but once you're hooked (hopefully not on the meat hooks!) your dishes will be the talk of every cookout. Start by checking out our Texas Smoker with an adjustable hand crank to raise lower your smoking rack for that perfect smoke.
Many of our models come with adjustable vents that let you release smoke when necessary for the cooking process. It's worth pointing out that you'll probably need a dedicated smoking space for your new piece of kit, as the smoke can easily make enclosed surroundings congested with fumes.
Fuel: Wood Chips, Smoking Wood, and Wood Pellets
One of the best aspects of buying a barbecue smoker is the customisable options you have for your fuel source. Level up from charcoal briquettes and start selecting your favourite wood chips, wood or pellets for a pellet smoker to achieve a unique smoky flavour.
What Type of Smoker?
A vertical smoker like our Arizona utilises one of the most innovative styles out there. Also referred to as a barrel smoker or a drum smoker, that's exactly what this model looks like. The USP of a vertical smoker is that it features different shelving layers and separate doors to smoke multiple meals at once. Or, for a more compact upright smoker, check out our 3-in-1 smoker, pizza oven and BBQ.
A horizontal smoker is one of the more typical designs that you might have seen before. Using a separate firebox where wood chips or pellets are burned, a horizontal smoker uses indirect heat to slowly bring food up to temperature. Just like our Drum Barbecues.
Direct Heat and Offset Smokers
Unlike charcoal BBQs, this indirect heat means that food doesn't get "grilled" or seared. Instead, the cooking chamber fills with your choice of flavoured smoke at the cooking temperature required. The smoking chamber uses this heat to both slowly cook and infuse your food with flavour.
An offset chamber is different still from a model like our Kentucky Smoker which smokes directly over the coals.
The BillyOh Selection
Our BBQ range doesn't stop at Smokers, though. We've got a full range of gas and charcoal grills, as well as Hybrid Barbecues which combine the best of both worlds. Plus, to keep your barbecue in great shape, we have weatherproof BBQ covers and barbecue accessories on hand too.
