Greenhouse UK
Wooden Greenhouses
Wooden greenhouses are the more traditional greenhouses in our selection. Constructed in much the same way as some of our sheds and summerhouses, each of our quality timber greenhouses feature big double doors for easy access and transparent glazing on opening windows, which are ideal for letting a bulk of light in and allowing for easy air circulation during the summer months.
With a traditional greenhouse from BillyOh, you can opt for one of a range of sizes: 3x6, 6x6, 9x6 and 12x6. The choice is great and means you don't need to spend any extra money or waste space if you're only planning to be growing a few bits and bobs. Similarly, if you're planning a tomato super-lab, we've got you covered.
With our metal/aluminium greenhouses (see below), you have similar choices, apart from with the Harvester, which comes in 8x12 only. This, however, makes it one of our largest greenhouses for floor space. Whereas most of our greenhouses are long length-ways, like a corridor, the Harvester is a very wide greenhouse, which makes it good for people who want to roam around inside.
While the majority of a greenhouse is windowed, the wooden frame is still a vital part, which is why it's important to look after it. At BillyOh, we offer pressure treatment on most of our wooden products, including our greenhouses. Pressure treatment is an industrial process that protects the wood from rot, decay and insect infestation. By opting for it, you ensure that you won't need to treat the wood yourself with wood preserver upon construction of the building and annually after that.
Metal Greenhouses
Alongside our wooden greenhouses, we also offer metal greenhouses, which feature an aluminium frame. They're great for people who'd prefer to spend less time maintaining their greenhouse throughout the year. While a timber greenhouse will require an annual dosage of wood preservative and may be more susceptible to the weather, metal greenhouses are durable, sturdy and weather-resistant.
That doesn't mean there aren't great benefits to a wooden greenhouse, though! Our timber products are a lot more customisable than our aluminium ones - a key factor in many people's decision to opt for one. However, come with the option of shelving, guttering and a greenhouse base if you want them.
We offer two styles of metal greenhouse. Our ever-popular lean-to greenhouses, which stand up against the wall of your house, are like an extension to your property and can save a lot of space, whereas a freestanding greenhouse works well for people with enough garden space to accommodate it.
Clear wall greenhouses
We offer two window options for our wooden greenhouses - clear wall and polycarbonate. Clear wall greenhouses feature entirely transparent styrene glass. Which is best for you depends on what you're looking for, and what you need, as both offer pros and cons.
Clear wall greenhouses allow you to see outside from inside the greenhouse - a nice touch if you're planning to be in there for long periods of time seeding or planting and don't want to be cut off from the outside world. Polycarbonate isn't as transparent, but is better for heat retention, and is a little bit stronger than standard styrene, which means it can offer extra peace of mind if you live in a particularly windy area.
Polycarbonate greenhouses
Polycarbonate greenhouses are the ideal greenhouse for people who are looking for a low maintenance way to grow their garden goods. They're a modern alternative to toughened glass greenhouses, which are significantly easier to break and more likely to steam up. Perfect for plant growth, polycarbonate glazing keeps heat in magnificently well and allows ample light transmission due to the panels being nearly transparent. They're quality greenhouses and are well equipped to deal with harsh weather due to being sturdy and shatterproof.
Note: All of our greenhouse models have been designed with apex roofs, meaning that water runs off the roof swiftly and effectively and there's generous height in the middle for the taller gardener.
