How to clean a sandpit

Ensure that sand is turned or raked regularly to both aerate it and remove debris. Allow the sand to be regularly washed by rain or do so with either tap water or a mixture of tap water and vinegar. Cover when not in use.

What sand to use in a sandpit

Opt for sand specified for play rather than builder's sand. You can also use washed, river or beach sand.
